Healthy Teeth, Happy Smiles
Dental hygiene is an important part of overall health. Beyond the benefit of saying goodbye to bad breath, the focus of dental care is to prevent oral disease and maintain a healthy pain-free mouth.
Preventing Dental Disease
Dental disease can happen early and is the most common disease in cats and dogs. Poor dental care can result in issues like gum disease, tooth loss, and stinky breath.
Our comprehensive pet dental services cover routine cleanings and advanced procedures to address these concerns. Signs of oral pain may include:
- Eating slower than usual
- Avoiding chewing on food or toys
- Pawing at the face or mouth
- Drooling or licking excessively
- Decreased grooming
- Loss of appetite
Two-Pronged Approach
At Coal Creek Animal Hospital, we aim to work with you to promote healthy dental habits by encouraging home care in addition to veterinary care.
Home Care
Healthy habits start at home. We recommend brushing your pet's teeth daily, if possible. There are also oral rinses, water additives, dental chews, and specialty foods. You can find some of our favorite products here. We will take the time to discuss what is right for both you and your pet.
Veterinary Care
CCAH is proud to design individualized treatment and care plans for each of our clients. This includes dental evaluations at every visit with suggestions as needed. We recommend comprehensive oral exams and cleanings under anesthesia when dental disease is present. Our cleanings include:
- Pre-anesthetic bloodwork, making sure your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia
- Full mouth X-rays
- Cleaning, scaling, and polishing
- Extractions, sealants, and other care as needed
Our highly skilled team can also perform oral surgeries for dental diseases such as Gingival Hyperplasia or periodontal pockets.
Delivering exceptional dental care isn't just science to us—it's an art. Give us a call to learn more about how we can provide the finest dental treatment for a joyful, pain-free, and healthy life.
